The Wine Harvest
Encosta dos Tuneis is blessed by its red and white grapes from various vine varieties.
In September and October, from early morning, the terraces are filled with people who participate in the harvest. The tradition of a mid-morning snack is maintained, served in the middle of the vineyards and replenished with a fresh rosé. The harvest continues till approximately 1pm, followed by a copious lunch with lots of wine and good fun. After a hearty lunch, comes the treading of the grapes, stage which requires strength of legs, done in a traditional way so that the purest of nectars is made, but mostly a lot of joy and good disposition with celebrations that continue well into the late afternoon.
