Encosta dos Tuneis is blessed by its red and white grapes from various vine varieties.
In September / October, from early morning, the terraces are filled with people who participate in the harvest. Tradition is maintained with a mid morning snack being served in the middle of the vineyards and watered down with fresh rosé. The harvest continues till approximately 13pm, followed by a copious lunch with lots of banter and wine.There after follows the treading of the grapes, the next stage which requires strength of legs, but mostly a lot of joy and good disposition. All this is done in the traditional way so that the purest of nectars can be found. Celebratory activities continue well into the afternoon.
